The technical bit
AdBlue is Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF), a non-toxic, non-flammable, colourless, odourless liquid. EU6 emissions legislation requires that all Land Rover diesel vehicles with the model year of 2016 have Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology fitted to them, reducing the levels of nitrous oxide emitted from the vehicle’s exhaust system by up to 90%. SCR technology requires the use of DEF or AdBlue.
At Steve Hill Land Rovers we are equipped to top up your DEF to the correct level via Symptom Driven Diagnostics (SDD), and this can be done as a while-you-wait appointment.
What to do
Your vehicle message centre will tell you via a series of messages when your DEF level becomes too low. Without the right level of DEF, the engine will not start, so when you see the warning messages, don’t delay – call Steve Hill Land Rovers and schedule an appointment for a swift resolution!
